Akrobat is a modern sans serif font with condensed proportions. The typeface comes in 8 weights with a geometric aestetics and slight neo-grotesque characteristic. It’s narrow proportions makes it perfect for headlines, logos, typographic compositions and short paragraphs of text. Acrobat contains more than 500 glyphs with a wide range of languages – extended Latin and Cyrillic character support as well as Bulgarian localization features. The base range of the Cyrillic glyphs (uni0410:uni044F) consists of traditional Cyrillic letterform model. In 2011 Andrij’s typeface became a winner of Ukrainian Type Design Competition ‘Mystetsky Arsenal’ in which three main criteria were sought for: being zeitgeist, practical, and Ukrainian. Andrij’s winning entry was crowned Arsenal and made publicly available.
Arsenal is a semi-grotesque with traditional forms. It is primarily designed for body text and intended for various professional communication. Its special qualities of letter shapes and subtle contrast modulation articulate grace and expressivity. Arsenal’s somewhat lyrical sentiment abides to the Ukrainian nature of the font.

Arvo is a geometric slab-serif typeface family suited for screen and print. Family includes 4 cuts: Roman, Italic, Roman Bold, Bold Italic. It is a free typeface distributed through the Open Font Library.
The flavour of the font is rather mixed. Its monolinearish, but has tiny bit of contrast, (to save some legibility in Mac OSX). The name Arvo is a typical estonian man’s name, which is not used very widely anymore. In Finnish language Arvo means „number, value, worth“. Considering how much programming is behind hinting, number is true.

Attractive comes in two styles Regular and Italic with extended coverage of the Latin-, Greek- and Cyrillic Script. The design origins of Attractive are in early-20th centuries technical style aesthetics, but they are combined with nice humanistic characters and details. We also made the typeface a little soft with small round corners, that way it reminds print work with hot metal typesetting and its much more legible on screen. The shapes are optically corrected, yet retain an uncut charm. The typeface works is an exellmletn choose for small text sizes, books and magazines, branding, posters, as well as web and screen design. Bitter

Bitter

People read and interact with text on screens more and more each day. What happens on screen ends up being more important than what comes out of the printer. With the accelerating popularity of electronic books, type designers are working hard to seek out the ideal designs for reading on screen.
Motivated by my love for the pixel I designed Bitter. A „contemporary“ slab serif typeface for text, it is specially designed for comfortably reading on any computer or device. The robust design started from the austerity of the pixel grid, based on rational rather than emotional principles. It combines the large x-heights and legibility of the humanistic tradition with subtle characteristics in the characters that inject a certain rhythm to flowing texts.
Bitter has little variation in stroke weight and the Regular is thicker than a normal ‘Regular’ style for print design. This generates an intense color in paragraphs, accentuated by the serifs that are as thick as strokes with square terminals.
Each glyph is carefully designed with an excellent curve quality added to the first stage of the design, that was entirely made in a pixel grid. The typeface is balanced and manually spaced to use very few kerning pairs, especially important for web font use since most browsers do not currently support this feature.
Early versions of the Italic and Bold styles were added in December 2011 and have been updated and complemented by a Bold Italic in early 2012.

Blogger Sans was designed by Sergiy Tkachenko as the FirstSiteGuide’s custom typeface, created primarily for the use in headlines of the website. Blogger Sans draws inspiration from the clarity and legibility of the popular font Dosis with the additional support of the lost Cyrillic languages. The bolder weights are lighter and softer. The following elements (-b-d-h-k-p-q-y-) are shorter, thus the headlines and subheads could be put in the dense line spacing. In addition the outline of the Blogger Sans is more smooth with better eligibility.
Number of glyphs 547 and kerning pairs 2496 to expanded the number of supporting languages.

Cormac is a humanist typeface characterized with it’s large x-height and slightly flared stems. The word that best describes our ideas in the beginning of the project is “simple” – the idea behind it was to strip the letter forms of everything unnecessary, and yet keep the typeface interesting.

The typeface is friendly without being too cheezy thanks to its humanistic character, flared ascenders and stems reminding of its calligraphic origin. The proportions are closer to the traditional old style typefaces. Cormac is open and readable typeface coming in 7 weights plus their matching ‘true’ italics – from Extra Thin to Bold.

The family comes with Cyrillic support, great range of numerals, fractions, ligatures, alternates and a lot of special characters making Cormac a great solution for a great range of design work – branding, editorial, web, wayfinding, etc.

Cormorant was conceived, drawn, spaced, kerned, programmed, interpolated, and produced in its entirety by Christian Thalmann of Catharsis Fonts. While this project was heavily inspired by Claude Garamont’s immortal legacy, Christian did not use any specific font as a starting point or direct reference for the designs. Most glyphs were drawn from scratch; when he needed guidance on a specific character, he searched for the term Garamond and skimmed through the results for a general impression.
He is grateful to the creative souls on the Typophile, TypeDrawers and Typografie forums, and Github, for a wealth of knowledge about type design, and for providing a large amount of excellent feedback on Cormorant during its development. The traditional Cyrillic letterform model is included as a local feature for Russian language and as a Stylistic Set 01. The font family is still under development. Lora is a well-balanced contemporary serif with roots in calligraphy. It is a text typeface with moderate contrast well suited for body text. A paragraph set in Lora will make a memorable appearance because of its brushed curves in contrast with driving serifs. The overall typographic voice of Lora perfectly conveys the mood of a modern-day story, or an art essay.
Technically Lora is optimised for screen appearance, and works equally well in print.

Marmelad is designed specifically for medium to large-size headlines and remains well-balanced for long text setting because of its regular proportions and medium contrast. Ascenders and descenders are elegant and details refined. The name and overall feel refers to marmalade sweets – soft and ductile.
All vertical strokes are rounded towards the baseline, which is why technically there is no sense for overshoots in rounded letters like O. Marmelad performs well on screen because of its soft rounded features and generous x-height.
The font supports Latin-1, Cyrillic and Turkish(Latin-5) encoding. Bulgarian Cyrillic glyphs are included but the opentype locl feature is not presented in the font.

Monitorica

If «Back to the Future Part II» heroes in 1989 would need a new poster for to travel to 2015, sure they would need a futuristic font and use ours. It’s good not only for theatrical release posters. The best part is one does not needs a DeLorean time machine to give a different spin to a sheet of paper. Because «Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.» Most stencil typefaces are only usable for display or headlines only. Monitorica has a graceful design that is also very legible as a text face.

As a local features in Monitorica are included the modern form of Bulgarian Cyrillic glyphs.

Muller Narrow sub-family consists of 20 weights, raging from Thin to Heavy with matching Italics. It’s a part of the Complete Muller Type System which contains 44 different font styles. This sub-family is suited for everything, raging from advertising, packaging, editorial and branding, to web and screen projects. The very first sketches of the original Muller were made about five years ago. In the process they changed to the point where they had nothing in common with the original idea. As it is with most work we do, when we seek perfection, changes are inevitable. It was specifically designed with a narrow structure for better appearance in small text sizes and the extra attention to the detail was needed for the big sizes. We managed to find the right balance for the perfect universal font family. Muller Narrow comes with a complete range of figure options, including proportional and old style figures, each in its tabular version. It also includes advanced typographic features such as ligatures, fractions, alternate characters, case-sensitive forms, superscripts and subscripts. Four fonts – Light, Light Italic & ExtraBold, ExtraBold Italic are available for free download with non-commercial use only (read the license) Just for testing!

„Our latest release is the Didones inspired – sturdy and “mechanical” Neumann. It all started with the idea of a revival of the Quirinus typeface, designed by Alessandro Butti and published by the Italian type foundry Nebiolo back in 1939. We first saw the typeface back in 2012 in the Vasil Ionchev’s book “Шрифтът през вековете” (not translated in English) and instantly fell in love with it – it was a different kind of high-contrast design – way more technical looking than the other didones.

After a quick research we found out that at that time there was no digital version of Quirinus, or at least no digital version of the light/regular design, only a bold version was being sold by Monotype. So the idea of a revival was the logical one.

We only had few pictures of how the regular weight looked like, so not long after that we started to tweak and change a lot of the features, aiming for a more classic looking design. The final design is the result of almost three years wandering between design decisions and constant changes.

Google has been developing a font family called Noto, which aims to support all languages with a harmonious look and feel. Noto is Google’s answer to tofu. The name noto is to convey the idea that Google’s goal is to see “no more tofu”. Noto has multiple styles and weights, and freely available to all. The comprehensive set of fonts and tools used in our development are available in our GitHub repositories. All Noto fonts are now licensed under OFL.

We’re proud to present you the Ossem typeface – the winning design of a design competition we held together with “Списание Осем” – Magazine Eight and thats why the font is named Ossem (Eight).

The idea behind the competition was to celebrate and recognize the Bulgarian form of Cyrillics by providing a free for use typeface designed with our help.

The winner – Kiril Semkov was chosen from eight contenstants and presented the most finished project with clear ideas and design.
Except the regular version we got from Kiril, we decided to make Rounded, Rough and Rust version (thanks to Vassil Kateliev). The four styles family comes with Cyrillic and Extended Latin support – 372 glyphs for each style.

The fonts are completely free for personal as well as commercial use.

Perun is a a sans-serif typeface. It is derivated from FreeUniversal font family with OFL (SIL Open Font License) and SIL Sophia font. FreeUniversal and SIL Sophia are neo-grotesque typefaces, which are in the style of Adrian Frutiger’s Univers. The project Perun is ongoing. Perun will be extended in its next releases to cover the styles Bold, Italic, Bold Italic. Perun font family contains also two models of Cyrillic glyph. The base range of the Cyrillic glyphs (uni0410:uni044F) represents the modern Bulgarian letter-form model. The traditional Cyrillic letterform model is included as a local feature for Russian language and as a Style Set 01. In that way everyone could choose preferable Cyrillic model for typesetting.

Pliska Font Package is modification of Tempora Font Package in the range of Cyrillic glyphs. The original Cyrillic glyphs (the range uni0410:uni044F) are included as *.locl glyphs. They could be used in Russian, Ukrainian and Serbian languages or through feature Stylistic Set 01 for any Cyrillic language. In the font family Pliska the Unicode range uni0410:uni044F consists of letter-form model known as Bulgarian Cyrillic (or better say – contemporary Cyrillic). The project ‘Pliska Font Package’ includes Pliska-Regular, Pliska-Bold, Pliska-Italic and Pliska-BoldItalic. The project is not completed. There will be more changes in the font family.

Raleway is an elegant sans-serif typeface family. Initially designed by Matt McInerney as a single thin weight, it was expanded into a 9 weight family by Pablo Impallari and Rodrigo Fuenzalida in 2012 and iKerned by Igino Marini.

It is a display face and the download features both old style and lining numerals, standard and discretionary ligatures, a pretty complete set of diacritics, as well as a stylistic alternate inspired by more geometric sans-serif typefaces than its neo-grotesque inspired default character set.

It also has a sister family, Raleway Dots.

Raleway Fonts v.3.000 included core Cyrillic support for 17 languages in Roman styles. Core Cyrillic glyphs were drawn by Pablo Impallari in 2013.

In August-September 2016 (Raleway v.4.000) existing Cyrillic was redrawn and expanded for both Roman and Italic by Alexei Vanyashin and Ivan Petrov (Cyreal) to support 60 Cyrillic languages:

Veleka is a complete modification of Charis SIL, copyrighted (c) by SIL International, 1997-2014 under SIL license (the SIL license is attached with the Veleka font, and is also available with a FAQ at: http://scripts.sil.org/OFL).
Although Charis SIL is intended to be a multilingual font it has some limitations, which were the reason to create the Veleka font.

What is new in the Veleka v. 1.000?

1. There is a full support for Greek in the Unicode range uni0370:uni03CE.

2. There are two models of Cyrillic for the range uni0410:uniuni044F (Modern Bulgarian Cyrillic and Russian Traditional Cyrillic).

3. There are two ways to switch between the modern and traditional Cyrillic (either by using locl feature for Russin language, or by using Style Set 01 feature).

4. There is a full support for Open Type features: Latin All Caps (case + cpsp), Ligatures, Discretionary Ligatures, Fractions, Ordinals, Swash, Titling Alternates, Contextual Alternates, Small Caps, All Small Caps, Slashed Zero, Stylistic Set 01, Stylistic Set 02, Superscript/Superior, Subscript/Inferior, Numerator, Denominator, Proportional Oldstyle, Proportional Lining, Tabular Oldstyle, Tabular Lining, Default Figure Style.

5. There is a lot of new glyphs in all the main Unicode ranges: Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, IPA etc.

6. The glyphs are rearranged according to Unicode 9.0.

„Yanone Kaffeesatz“ was first published in 2004 and is Yanone’s first ever finished typeface. Its Bold is reminiscent of 1920s coffee house typography, while the rather thin fonts bridge the gap to present times. Lacking self confidence and knowledge about the type scene, Yanone decided to publish the family for free under a Creative Commons License. A decision that should turn out one of the best he ever made. It has been downloaded over 100,000 times to date, and you can witness Kaffeesatz use on German fresh-water gyms, Dubai mall promos and New Zealand McDonalds ads. And of course on coffee and foodstuff packaging and café design around the globe.
In 2009 he reworked much of the typeface and it got published in FontShop’s FontFont Library under the new name FF Kava. You can read more about it in an extensive article by Yves Peters on FontFeed.
